Phillip Magin

Hi! I’m Phillip.

I’m a drama teacher based in New York City, and I recently earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Theatre at New York University, with a teaching credential for NYSED for Theatre for Grades K-12. I bring a strong blend of classroom experience, theatre making, and performance background to high school, middle school, and elementary school theatre programs.

I recently completed my student teaching at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, as well as the Institute for Collaborative Education. Prior to that, I taught theatre at a summer camp at Aviator Sports & Events Center here in NYC.

My background also includes 5+ years teaching youth and teen theatre in San Diego with San Diego Junior Theatre, North Coast Repertory Theatre, and CharacterKids. I’ve written, directed, and produced three original plays for the San Diego International Fringe Festival, which strengthened my skills in production management, meticulous planning/organization, and student collaboration from rehearsal to performance.

With a B.A. in Theatre Performance from San Diego State University and ongoing professional acting work in both San Diego and NYC, I bring real-world industry experience into the classroom to engage, challenge, and mentor students at all levels.

I’m looking for full time drama teacher roles and I hope to be a great addition to your school’s community. I would love the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to your theatre program and support student growth.
